OUR HISTORY
Learn how we became the Luft you know.
OUR FOUNDATION

On February 6, 1975, from the dream of Raimundo Luft, TRANSPORTES LUFT was founded, focused on transporting essential consumer goods in Santa Rosa, in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. The company was created by the patriarch of the Luft family, with the support of his children.

EXPANSION

Over time and in full expansion, in 1982 we created the then-unprecedented Overnight Express Transport service, a market differential that propelled the rapid growth of our company. As a result, in the same year, the Transportes Luft headquarters was transferred to Porto Alegre.

SPECIFIC BUSINESS NICHES

In the early 1990s, seeking to meet market needs, a fundamental change in our strategy occurred: we began to operate in specific business niches, with the first being the Agrochemicals segment. As a result, we began operating under the brands Transportes Luft; Alpha Logística, and Luft Logística, standing out as the country’s first vertically integrated logistics chain company. Luft emerged with service segmentation.

ENTRY INTO THE FOOD SERVICE SECTOR

With the success of the segmented logistics chain model, we decided to enter the food service sector. On July 1, 1995, we acquired the company FBD. Through this merger, we diversified our services for large clients in the out-of-home dining sector.

LEADER IN AGRICULTURAL DEFENSIVES

In the same year, we became leaders in the Agricultural Defensives segment, with Transportes Luft, known as Luft Agro.

BOMI BRASIL EMERGES

Continuing with the segmentation process, now focusing on the health sector. On March 10, 1998, through a joint venture with the Italian company Bomi Group, Bomi Brasil was born.

LUFT PRECISION FARMING ESTABLISHMENT

With market growth and the emergence of new customer needs, on January 25, 1999, we created Luft Precision Farming, a company responsible for the application of agricultural pesticides for the sugarcane segment, as an extension of Transportes Luft.

PARTNERSHIP WITH inpEV

Already as a consolidated group recognized for its capacity and quality in service provision, we maturely reflected on sustainability. Concerned with the well-being of the agricultural population and the preservation of the environment, we were invited by the National Institute of Empty Packaging Processing (inpEV), on December 14, 2001, to assist in the creation and management of a unique and innovative project: the reverse logistics of empty agricultural pesticide containers for their washing and proper disposal.

LUFT ROAD TRANSPORT

On May 10, 2004, we started operating in the industrial cargo market (also known as low-value-added cargo), through the transportation of products for the petrochemical and beverage industries, through the company Luft Transportes Rodoviários (LTR).

ACQUISITION OF INTEC

Also in 2004, on October 1, we acquired the company INTEC, which was already a transport service provider for the companies in our Group in the healthcare segment.

LUFT SOLUTIONS EMERGENCE

Following the segmentation strategy and aiming to meet market demands, we paid attention to the emergence of the Internet and new digital technologies. To meet the needs generated by these new channels, Luft Solutions emerged on February 16, 2005, a company in our Group focused on logistics for the retail and e-commerce sectors.

ACQUISITION OF TRANSCAMILA

On January 22, 2008, Luft Agro acquires Transcamila, a company focused on the transportation of agrochemical products.

CREATION OF THE LUFT CORPORATE AREA

In January 2009, we created the Corporate area of the Luft Group, responsible for unifying and integrating all companies, disseminating the Luft culture in all its businesses and markets.

BRAND RENEWAL

Four years later, with the restructuring of the companies through the already consolidated Corporate, we revitalized our brand, redefining the scope of some companies through business unification. Thus, in 2013, the companies Luft Agribusiness; Luft Solutions; Luft Healthcare; Luft Food Services; Luft Transports, and Bomi Brasil were established.

INTERNATIONALIZATION

Also in 2013, we created our international arm, Luft Worldwide, which aims to offer a set of transportation, storage, distribution capacity, and low cost for customers seeking solutions for their products in the Brazilian and North American markets, focusing on expanding resources for global markets.

END OF LUFT FOOD SERVICES

In 2014, a new business analysis occurred, and we began to focus on new markets. With this, we left the out-of-home dining sector, previously served by Luft Food Services.

CREATION OF THE MOST ADVANCED ECOSYSTEM OF SOLUTIONS FOR THE HEALTHCARE MARKET

In 2017, we sold 100% of our shareholding in Bomi. We began to focus entirely on Luft Healthcare, with the aim of creating the best ecosystem of logistical solutions for the healthcare market.

LUFT 4.0

In 2020, we celebrated 45 years of successful logistical operations. We have reached a technological level that allows us to offer our customers a series of benefits, such as a flexible structure, reduction in total logistical costs, specialized teams, 4.0 technologies, a strict 24/7 security scheme, a fully customized and parameterized WMS, operational support structures, risk management centers, and mechanical workshops, as well as synergy and optimization between storage and transportation areas, in addition to the Luft Digital Platform.
